Removable & Fixed Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are dental prosthesis that replaces one or more missing natural teeth in the jaws with artificial teeth for functional and esthetic purpose. There are two types – removable and fixed. Removable partial dentures are made of acrylic material and require removal while the patient sleeps and regular cleansing is necessary. They can be easily removed and inserted by the patient themselves and take the support of adjacent natural tooth. Fixed partial dentures are made of metal-ceramic or all ceramic units. This gives more esthetics to the patient and a more natural appearance as the artificial teeth matches the shade of the natural teeth. The fixed partial dentures are cemented to the natural tooth to avoid displacement during eating or sleeping.
